Ingredients
2 cup - Broken wheat / Dalia
2 cups - Water
2 - Red onion Or 10 - big shallots
5 - Green chilies
1" to 2'' piece - Ginger, grated
2 - Tomato, chopped
Seasoning
2 tsp - Mustard seeds
2 tsp - Urad dal
2 - Dry whole red chili
3 to 4 sprigs- Curry leaves
Ghee or any other cooking oil
Method
1 ) Heat oil in a kadai / wok, add mustard seeds, urad dal and crackle mustard. Then add red chili, curry leaves and fry for a second. Then add onion, green chili, ginger and fry for few seconds. Then add tomato, fry for a few seconds. Then add rawa and fry for one to two minutes on slow flame.
2 ) Add 2 cups water to the kadai, close with tight lid and cook on very slow flame. Cook for 5 minutes. Open lid and stir well. Lastly add a little ghee on top and stir in well.
Serve hot for breakfast with steamed ripe & sweet plantain and if you like pappad.

LOL...I was the same when I was a kid. I prefered sheera to sajjige(thats what they called it at home) Now I'll give anything to have someone prepare it for me :)
I too used to say 'Oh No!' on seeing upma during my childhood days but now I enjoy having it. Your upma looks so delicious. I too love using coarse rava for making upma..gives a nice taste :)
